World Championships

The World Championships represent the pinnacle event of the 29er class each year, bringing together the world’s best sailors to compete at the highest level. With consistently strong international participation, the event attracts large fleets from across the globe. In recent years, the Championships have been hosted in iconic sailing venues including Long Beach (USA), Hong Kong, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom and Denmark. The most recent edition, held in Aarhus, Denmark in 2024, set a new benchmark for the class with a record-breaking fleet of 258 boats. The 2026 29er World Championship will take place from 2–9 July 2026 at the Kiel-Schilksee Olympic Sailing Center in Germany. Scheduled immediately after Kiel Week, the event will welcome the world’s top youth skiff sailors for a full week of high-level racing on the Baltic Sea. Renowned for its dynamic conditions and outstanding facilities, Kiel provides a demanding and exciting setting for one of the most anticipated events on the 29er calendar.

2026 World Championship

The 2026 29er World Championship will take place July 2–9, 2026 at the Kiel-Schilksee Olympic Sailing Center in Germany. Held just after Kiel Week, the event will attract top youth skiff sailors from around the world for a week of competitive racing on the Baltic Sea. Known for dynamic conditions and excellent facilities, Kiel offers an exciting and challenging venue for one of the biggest events on the 29er calendar.

2025 World Championships

In 2025 the fleet travelled to Porto, Portugal for an unforgettable World Championship on the stunning Atlantic front. Over 200 teams from 26 nations battled across multiple fleets in light, challenging conditions, racing for the titles of Men’s, Women’s and Mixed 29er World Champions. The Douro Marina became the epicentre of world sailing for a week filled with drama, skill and excitement — with tight leaderboard fights, passionate supporters, and a vibrant atmosphere ashore.

2024 29er World Championships

in 2024 the fleet visited Denmark for the World Championships at the home of Danish sailing in Aarhus. A new record number of entries was set at 238 and the sailors once again raced for the titles of Men, Women and Mixed 29er World Champions and it was a hotly contested battle on the race course, with plenty of fun combined.

2023 29er World Championships

In 2023 the class is excited to be heading to the Olympic waters of Weymouth, Uk - after some Covid related postponements. Male, Female and for the first time Mixed World Champions are to be crowned and will Spain be able to hold on to the Nations Cup and make it a hatrick. We are looking forward to a wonderful week of racing. Dates are 27th July to the 4th August 2023. 2022 29er World Championships

2022 29er World Championships
In 2022 the class will head to Spain once more, this time we will be hosted by the wonderful CN El Balis! Male and Female World Champions are to be crowned and will Spain be able to hold on to the Nations Cup, once again having the home court advantage. We are looking forward to a wonderful week of racing. Dates are 29th July to the 6th August. 2021 Zhik 29er World Championships

In 2021 the class will head to the awesome venue of Valencia, Spain! Male and Female World Champions are to be crowned and will Sweden be able to hold on to the Nations Cup?! This event promises to be a wonderful week of racing. Dates are 23rd - 31st August.
